J. Chen,Blood sample

Jade came into the testing room sopping wet. Her long jeans left a trail of water droplets behind them and her black hair was gleaming from being rained on. That was the only thing she hated about Miami. All the rain. She'd been born and raised in Arizona, which wasn't exactally known for loads of moisture. And it seemed like you still got wet outside even if it wasn't raining. It was all the humidity. She needed to carry a hair dryer around with her so she could dry herself off every time she had to run around outside in the rain.

She looked around the room thinking of the last time she'd been in here. About a month ago, after a medical examiner had told her to get the results for some blood. She'd opened her mouth to ask exactly how you were supposed to do that but the medical examiner had muttered something about a meeting and ran off. Jade had managed to find this room and had tried to use the machines. Unfortunately the equipment didn't have any instruction manuals on how to use them. She managed to do something with one of the machines. But obviously it hadn't been what she was supposed to do. Because after she'd given the sheet to the medical examiner he'd gotten furious and started yelling. That wouldn't happen this time though. Even as she thought that she nearly tripped over a cord. She sighed and unzipped her bag carefully removing the sample.

Savannah sighed and headed to the lab. She pulled out a pair of latex gloves from her pocket and put them on. Jade was already there when she got there.
"Put some drops of blood on some glass slides. Put droplets of water on the slides first, then put the cover slips over the blood and water," Savannah said, pointing out where each of the suppleis were as she went. She went over to the lab computer and sat down. She pulled on Calleigh's medical records. It was help them start the investigation.

Jade nodded and did as Mrs. Katez told her to. Well she did follow the directions but then she accidentally dropped the slide on the floor. A chill of fright ran up her spine and she looked up at Mrs. Katez with a mixture of shame and embarassment.
"I'm...sorry,"she muttereed. That's when she noticed her hands were shaking. She shook them furiously then returned to the counter to try again . This time she got everything on and managed not to spill anything.

Savannah looked Calleigh's file. Her blood type was AB-. She got up and went over to the file cabinent. She found a slide of Calleigh's blood taken from a while back.
"Jade, do you have one of those slides done?" she asked. She went over to a microscope and put the slide on it. She waited for Jade to get done with a slide so she could compare the side-by-side.

"Yes Mrs. Katez," she replied carrying over the slide to where the medical examiner was standing. She carried it tightly in her hand but not enough so that she would break it. She placed it next to the other slide and backed away to watch what Mrs. Katez would do. She took note of which microscope she was using. She glanced at the machine she had used the other time which was on the opposite side of the room altogether. At least she knew which one she had to use now.

Jade handed her one of the new slides. She put it next to the old slides. She found something suspicious. She took the slides over to the electromagnectic microscope that was hooked up to the computer. She printed out a picture of the two slides. She looked at the new slides in horror.
"Jade, go get Horatio now!" Savannah yelled at her.

Jade was alarmed by Mrs. Katez screaming. She had never seen the medical examiner lose control. But she didn't hesitate. Running was something that she could do well. She grabbed her bag and started running through the building. She wondered what in the world could be wrong. So there had been something running through Miss Duquesne's blood like Mr. Caine had thought. It must be something pretty bad to have Mrs. Katez so alarmed.

Horatio arrived at the lab in a quick rush in his CSI Hummer. He ran inside and up the elevator. He walked to Where DNA was. He picked up his lab coat on his way there. He pushed open the door and went straight to where Savannah was standing shaking.
"What's up?" He asked looking at Savannah.

[Savannah Katez]

Savannah handed her the print-out of the blood slides. Then she transmitted the slide picture onto the projector. She pointed to the black specks that shows up in the new blood.
"I say these are nanobodies. Probably she got them injected into her blood steam when we found that punction mark on her. What do you think?" Savannah explained to Horatio.

[Horatio Caine]

"Just like in our previous case 'Not Landing' all those people with the needle marks on their necks" Horatio said looking at the big picture.
"Looks like we got ourselves a drug dealer" He said swiftly.
He took the paper from Savannah and examinded it.
"Now we need to know how we can get them out and see what they do" He said setting the paper down on the table.

[Savannah Katez]

"Her blood isn't the same as the passengers on the plane. We still haven't gotten the tests back for them. Something is extremely wrong with it. We don't know what it is, and that's a bad thing," Savannah replied staring blankly at the wall.

Jade stood quietly behind the two CSI's taking note of what was different between the two samples. It looked like Miss Duquesne was very bad. She was even more confused when Mrs. Katez said there were nanobodies....and then said she didn't know what was in the blood. Did that mean there was more than one thing in it? When Mrs. Katez said they didn't know what it was a chill ran down her spine. They didn't know? Two of the higher ranked CSI's didn't know?

Savannah sighed and began to clarify her point, "It's some sort of fast-working posion, the passengers on the plane, that is. We know that but we don't know anything else about it. It's really confusing. The chemicals in Calleigh's blood and the passenger's blood are different, but there is one ingrediant that is the same. We still need to figure out what it is. It's very confusing."

[Horatio Caine]

Horatio sighed.
"No one leaves till we find what it is" Horatio said intently. Great she is poisoned. Who knows how long she has! Horatio thought. He then got in his Hummer and drove back to the hospital.

"So the poison in her blood is a mixture?" she asked quietly looking at the slides. She wondered if the hospital would know what it was. Weren't they supposed to know that kind of thing? Or was it too complicated. Wasn't there some sort of specialist that studied this kind of thing?
"Can we decompose it somehow?" she asked rather lamely. Mrs. Katez looked terribly upset. She supposed it was worse since this case invovled a CSI she knew personally.

[Savannah Katez]

"I doubt the hospital would know, if we don't know. It's all very confusing. It doesn't make any sense at all. We need to find out what the ingredient is before we do anything else. That's the first thing we need to do. We better get started," Savannah stated.
