[for the love of Mike, will someone reply?!?!?!]
Kayla's face - hiding between the palms of her hands, trying not to remind her of the lack of people. No one was ther anymoe; she felt utterly and entirely alone. She knew that Horatio and Calliegh where somewhere, but it just wasn't right; no Ryan, no Eric, not even the smug, annoying appearance of Anya. It was a ghost town here; it was too quiet - it was no longer Miami.
She let out a ragged sigh and stared at the coffee table; she saw nothing, really. She had realized that her work was her life, and her life was fading - fast. She blinked, thinking that she saw movement."I'm... god, I'm patethic!" she murmured to herself, and cradled her face in her hands again. Nothing made sense; nothing whatsoever. Why would everyone leave, or just stop showing up? She felt warm, salty tears form in her brown eyes, but she stopped it; she was too weak.
She froze suddenly; where was Horatio, and why was he allowing this - What is his problem? Was he too busy with that relationship with Calliegh to do his job? She groaned and sat back in the couch, anxiety and suspicion taking over all rational thoughts. This was his fault, she promised herself, anger pouring into her veins, into her usually peaceful face. All his fault... it was turning into a chant now as she stood up and started pacing around the room...
An unexplainable anger was taking over her, causing insanity to take the stage of her unstable mind. She could only tell that Horatio was taking her life, slowly but surely; that he was trying to destroy her perfect life - that he wanted nothing but to take from her what he never had. A twisted grin appeared on Kayla's face, but it was so out of place. It was a smile of a madman's, not her's. Realization had changed her into the very thing that she had tried to stop; the very person who took over her father...
Kayla Cortago was no more..
Horatio Caine had himself a new enemy...
