Less than perfect

[Kate Switzer]

Kate sat on the couch, setting her phone on the table infront of her. She looked around the room. She closed her eyes slowly. The loud ring of her phone awoke her. "Hello?" she said slowly trying to wake up a little. (Everying for now on is in russian) Hello my darling. She paused hearing the voice. Daddy? Yes angle its me. What can i do for you? We need you..... I already told you that i'm not going to join stuff like that! This is why i'm a csi! Well honey this we need you for! He hung up. She waited and was in shock. The phone rang again. No matter what you say, We will get your help!!!

It was just an ordinary, quiet day at the lab, James had finished off most of his paperwork and was heading to the breakroom. The light was on and he could hear slight movement as he walked close by the wall and towards the door.

James had entered just as the young woman's cell rang his soft foot-lightfoot making no sound against the floor. He didn't touch the door as it was known to make sounds and he didn't want to break the conversation that he could understand.

When the young woman finished he moved to speak but the cell rang again and judging by the look on the girls face this wasnt just a call.

"Everything ok?" he asked making his entry and choosing not to reveal that he had understood every word.

Oh you heard that. I guess that everything is okay.... she said a bit slowly with her heavy russian accent. She kepted her eyes on the phone. Her eyes intensy looking at it. She was concentrated on it. Sorry if i was loud or anything. She said as she relized that she was loud. The phone started to ring again. She didn't want to answer (Fyi: Her dad is in the Russian Mob)

Jmes shook his head "Nah you wasnt loud" he entered a little more and stood looking at her his hands deep inside his pockets as he regarded her "You sure" he cut off when the phone rang again. His eyes rested on it then back to the woman "Not going to answer it?" he asked curiously. His gut instincts were kicking in now and he wanted to help if he could.

She bit her lip. She didn't know if she should. She took the phone in her hand and looked at the caller id. Why did they keep calling her. What did the want? She kept asking herself. She sighed and answered it. She didn't speek into it as somone started yelling on the other side of the phone. It suddenly got really queit. She paused. "You might want to come outside." Her eyes widened as she started to get scared. " What do you want from me!?" The line went dead. She held the phone to her ear still. She sat over and put her head in her hands. " They want me to go outside......."

[Aiden Hawthorne]

Aiden walked into the lab that was quiet so far. Her dark hair falling in her face no matter how much she tried to tuck it back. She shrugged off her dark jacket. The silence was broken by Kate's voice as Aiden walked by the door. She walked in and stood by the doorway. She looked the two standing inside the room. "Is everything okay?"

She lowered the phone from her ear. She slowly put it on the table. With her naturally light footsteps she walked over to the window. She put her lips together. Her eyes wondered till she saw them. No, not really. she said as she started to walk out. Her pace got faster and faster as she got closer to the door. You can help us now. You should be helping your roots and not the stupid American's. They should learn to fend for themselves!!! He screamed when he saw her.

Aiden's eyes locked on Kate. Though she wasn't listening in, she could hear snipets of the conversation through the window. It was in Russian, which she understood a little. She raised her eyebrow hearing the angry voice of the man standing nearby. She made her way over to her.

Who's your little girly friend?! You know that these are privit matters!! She said as he got close to Kate. Little Katie you should know better by now.... She said and the slaped her accross the face. Will you tell me what the F*** you want or just get out of my life! Kate looked to Aiden. She didn't want anything to happen to Aiden. They had gotten close since they ment on the first day.

Aiden's eyes narrowed and she started to get a little irritated, understanding everything he'd said. She shot back at him in Russian. I'm Aiden Hawthorne. I work here. I'm a CSI. I think you should learn how to speak to Kate here with a little more respect."

He turned to Aiden with a frown. I'm her dad i can speak to her anyway i want. She is my daughter. He started to walk torwards Aiden. No don't!! She said grabing on to him. He flung her back as she hit the ground by some of the other guys with him. She was kept on her knees and someone put a gun to her head. (FYI: M.E's don't carry guns so she in a hard situation)

Instinct and all her training kicked in the second they attacked Kate. Aiden's temper flared and she dove right at Kate's father, realizing too late that she had left her gun in the lab.

He laughed evily. He had a smile on his face. Dad don't, please!!! But her scream was silenced. She was crying. Aiden. She didn't want anything to happen to her best friend. She couldn't make her eyes wonder away as he started to reach for something.

James had seen the entire thing, and when he saw the intruder he reached for his sig. As soon as Kate was attacked he pulled it and took aim seeing the chaos that was about to ensue "HOLD IT!" he yelled side stepping and standing right in the Man's path "You sure you want to do that...on our property?" he snarled. Judging by his voice he was russian and judging by the way he was acting he was a Mafia boss which made this alot worse. James had heard everything but he had recieved a call midway in the conversation between him and Kate and he had gone to a corner to make the call. When he heard the commotion he had hung up and instinctively went on high alert.

Aiden swung furiously trying to get Kate's father down. She struggled fiercly to pin the man who was probably twice her size to the ground. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw someone. She looked away from the man and to James, who had just entered.

You should know better than to look away!!! She slamed a fist into Aiden. Kate Screamed Leave them out of this!! You came here for me! Leave them be! She said. She would do anything to change his mind. What is it that you want me to do.........? She asked knowing this would get his atteition.

The impact of the hit made Aiden sprawl backwards. Faintly, the taste of blood lingered in her mouth. She turned to him, ready to retaliate when she heard Kate. "Kate! No! We'll be find. This is the stuff we're trained for!"

Trained for? You have got to be kidding me. No one can train you how to act in a situation. This is something that you must learn the hard way. Thats how Kate learned..... He spat at Aiden. Kate lowered her head. No one had known about her past or how she grew up. She was starting to have flashbacks of when she was little.

Aiden made a sound, almost like a growl. "Trust me, sir. I've dealt with scum like you before." Her eyes narrowed and she stared him down and reached slowly for the knife in her jacket pocket, praying they wouldn't notice.

Haha i dout that. Honey you should know better than to talk like you know us. he smiled. Kate looked up at Aiden. One of the guys leaned down to her. He smiled and picked her up. Take that anyoing brat out of here so i can finish them off. Kate's eyes widened. No! Daddy please! She knew what such a thing ment. She is going to be-....... She swallowed the thought not wanting to think it. Even though she knew it was going to happen.

Aiden looked around, doing a good job to hide her fear. She looked to Kate and nodded, forcing on a smile. "You'll be fine Kate. Don't worry about me."She turned to her dad and clutched the knife in her pocket. She pulled it out.

They took Kate away. Kate knew what would happen next. The face that she was the bosses daughter made it that she wasn't going to die, but,....... She knew something in the back of her mind. She look at Aiden's smile. She did everything she could to remeber that smile. She stoped fighting back. She might as well let them do their job. It was her punishment. She was going to end up of the ground. Luckly it wasn't going to be that she was going to be gone with out a trace and found in a lake somewhere. Think that's going to do anything? he asked as Aiden pulled out the knife.

Aiden laughed without humor.I sure hope so. She took a step towards him. Touch me again, see what happens.

James stood there rooted, evidently his gun didnt faze anyone and it didnt help the two women were engaging the man "d**nit" he growled keeping his aim steady. He wasnt used to people continuing to move under gunpoint specially when two of them happened to be two of their own. He'd have to let his sniper instinct kick in and take him out the hard way if the two women stopped engaging him.

Kate was being led away now. She took a look back on her co-workers..... Her Friends. She didn't want this to be the last time that she saw them. She didn't want to die, but, most of all she didn't want anything to happen to them. She looked at James and smiled slightly. The gun wouldn't do anything. They had bullet proof vests under their clothes. He was have to have a good enough aim to hit them right inbetween the eyes. She sighed. She looked at the men leading her away. She was going to dissapear for awail. She didn't want to but, i was too late to stop it. She looked back to James and Aiden Be carful.... She said under her breath. The walk wasn't long untill she got into a car. She didn't know where she was going to end up. Considering they change their spots everytime. They were going to do one of the worse fears of her's since being born into the high up of the gang. Being beaten. Being beaten till you learn your lesson....... or......... your breath stops.

Aiden watched Kate go. Her eyes darted around taking in her surroundings and assessing the situation. Her eyes locked on James, then on the gun. She knew she had to get out of the way to give him a clear shot, it was just a matter of how. She sat really still for a moment before elbowing Kate's father in the face and rolling out of the way, hopefully it worked.

As she rolled away. He did something in his hand. As if signiling someone. She had a smile cross his face. Well darling if your so tuff. Let's test how far you will fight for your life. He said with a smile on his face. Each one of his words came out as if it was laugh. He looked around.
