`` calling all artists,
heathington academy of the arts is about to host its first live show, into the woods by james lapine and stephen sondheim. not only the theatre kids are getting involved, though, and that's probably the best part of this all. auditions are for this next week, and rehearsals will be running for the next couple of months. where do you fit in?
` the visualist, the visualists are the people who paint and even build the sets, working even with the stage crew to paint and make everything visually appealing. they're our fabulous techies, and without them our show would simply be held on a bare stage in the elizabeth theatre. and of course, that's no fun. they have some of the most visually artistic minds of heathington, and we'd be nowhere without them.
` the actor, our actors and actresses are the people who slave for hours at a time, being constantly criticized by the harshness of the musicale's directors. they don't always have it hard, though; whether on or off stage, in or out of character, at or out of rehearsal, our actors and actresses connect with each other and develop a best friendship with each member of the whole cast.
` the musician, our musicians work hard in order to learn the pieces of music for each crucial song; they're just about as important as everyone else. if it weren't for our wonderful pianists, guitarists, bassists, or drummers (et cetera) and all their hard work, the pit band would sound horrible and the show really wouldn't be able to go on. because, really, what's a musical without music?
` the photographer,
one thing the photographers love best about the musicale season is the amount of excellent film they get to use on the play -- and it's all free! whether it's photoshoots and pictures for the advertising posters, pictures of the cast and crew working on the show throughout the season, or actual opening night where they can capture close-up and alive pictures, our photographers claim they have the most fun. not only do they have to skip out on complete hard work and the stress of memorizing lines, but they get to goof around almost the whole time.
` the cinematographer,
our cinematographers are semi-professional, and there is no single doubt about that. each and every one of us love looking back at the past couple of months that were spent with the cast and crew -- especially the mess-ups and funny comments that were said. without our cinematographers filming every moment they can grasp onto, there wouldn't be an "end" film to watch.
` the dancer,
without choreography, the dance scenes - as well as some of the most important scenes - would be a disaster. some of our cast can be pretty hopeless when it comes to choreography, and would prefer being told how to do it than trying to think how to do it. that's not all our dancers do, though; in fact, some of them are completely a part of the show.
` the writer,
mostly known for their tendency to carry a notebook in their back pockets, the writers are the people who write and advertise the show when it comes the time to do so. usually our writers don't just write, but get themselves involved in other things concerning the play. they're not boring people.
